Frequently Asked Questions

What is Yeoncha Calculator? +
A Korean annual leave (연차) tracker. Enter your hire date and work pattern, and the app computes accrued days based on Korea's Labor Standards Act. You can record full-day, half-day, and hourly leave, and get reminders before unused days expire. Free, no sign-up required.
Do I need to create an account? +
No. There is no sign-up or login. All data is stored on your device and never leaves it.
What's the difference between hire-date and fiscal-year basis? +
Hire-date basis accrues leave on the anniversary of your hire date each year. Fiscal-year basis grants leave according to the company's fiscal year (commonly January 1), with first-year prorating applied. Pick whichever your employer uses. Note that on resignation, accrual is recalculated on a hire-date basis regardless.
How are half-days and hourly leave deducted? +
Half-days deduct 0.5 day. Hourly leave deducts 0.125 day per hour (8 hours = 1 day). Note that half-day and hourly leave are at the employer's discretion under Korean labor practice — check your company's rules of employment first.
How is leave accrued in the first year of service? +
Under Labor Standards Act §60(2), employees with under 1 year of service accrue 1 day of leave per month of full attendance. The app computes this automatically from your hire date.
Do I get more leave after 3 years? +
Yes. After 3 years of continuous service, an additional day is granted every 2 years up to a maximum of 25 days (LSA §60(4)). Bonus days are reflected automatically.
How do I set up expiry reminders? +
Go to Settings → Notifications. Pick how many days before expiry you want to be alerted, and at what time. The default is 30/14/7 days before, at 9:00 AM. Notifications are scheduled on your device only — they do not pass through any remote server.
What about workers under 15 hours per week? +
Under Labor Standards Act §18(3), workers with under 15 hours per week are exempt from annual paid leave. The app shows a notice and skips accrual calculation for this case.
Are part-time (단시간) workers supported? +
Part-time workers (15 to under 40 hours per week) are planned for v1.1. Version 1.0 supports full-time workers (40-hour week).
How is the unused-leave allowance computed? +
Enter your monthly ordinary wage (통상임금) and standard monthly working hours (default 209). The app derives the hourly rate, then the daily rate, and multiplies by your unused days. Ordinary wage definitions vary by employer, so the result is an estimate.
What if HR's number doesn't match the app's? +
The app applies general LSA rules. If your employment contract or rules of employment have specific provisions, those take precedence. For large discrepancies, talk to your HR contact or the Ministry of Employment & Labor's 1350 helpline. Results in the app are for reference only.
Can I move my data to another device? +
Not yet — v1 has no cloud sync or export. All data lives on the device you installed the app on. Export and backup are on the roadmap for future updates.
Is it paid? Are there ads? +
v1 is fully free and has no ads. All features are unlocked.
